JANUARY IS FOR JEAN AT JUDSON!

January 3, 2021 marks the third anniversary that our beloved friend Jean Montrevil, the father of Antoine, Janiah, Jahsiah and Jamya, was targeted for his activism and kidnapped by ICE outside his home in New York City. He was deported to Haiti, a country where he has not been in over 30 years on January 16, 2018.

Judson Memorial Church, the Judson Immigration Task Force, and the NYU Immigrant Rights Clinic invite you to join in a month long series of events and actions to begin a renewed effort to Bring Jean Home in 2021. Please help us #BringJeanHome this January! Jean was a Lawful Permanent Resident, but became deportable due to decades-old convictions from his youth.

EVENTS

Saturday January 16, 2pm, the day 3 years ago when Jean was deported, join us for a silent vigil Jericho Walk around Washington Square (COVID protocols apply) to pray for Jean and for the justice he deserves.

Sunday January 17, 11am, on the eve of Martin Luther King Day and on the cusp of the election, Judson will dedicate its Sunday Service to bringing Jean home.

Stay tuned for actions and events throughout the month to raise awareness for Jean’s case and to solidify what we are so hopeful will be his return.

ACTIONS

A PARDON FROM VIRGINIA GOVERNOR NORTHAM WOULD HELP CLEAR A PATH TO #BRINGJEANHOME.

To express support for Jean's pardon application, call Governor Northam's office at (804) 786-2211 and select option 2 to speak to a staff member, and email Governor Northam at ralph.northam@governor.virginia.gov. Please remember to be respectful and polite in your communications. If you are a resident of Virginia, let them know!

Script: My name is [YOUR NAME]. I am calling/writing to ask Governor Northam to find it in his heart to pardon Jean Montrevil, who has a pending pardon application before your office. Jean is a beloved father of four, small business owner, and community leader who was targeted by the Trump Administration for speaking up for immigrant rights. Jean was deported three years ago this month to Haiti, where he suffers immensely. Governor Northam can help reunite Jean with his four U.S. citizen children by pardoning him for his decades-old convictions, for which he served his time. Please help us bring Jean home! Thank you for your time.
