We’re just getting started!
You can support Jean and his family by submitting letters in support of his pardon applications in Virginia. This small step will be a big help in this effort to bring Jean home to his family and community.
Pardons are possible but they take real people power!
A PARDON FROM VIRGINIA GOVERNOR NORTHAM WOULD HELP CLEAR A PATH TO #BRINGJEANHOME.
To express support for Jean's pardon application, call Governor Northam's office at (804) 786-2211 and select option 2 to speak to a staff member, and email Governor Northam at ralph.northam@governor.virginia.gov. Please remember to be respectful and polite in your communications. If you are a resident of Virginia, let them know!
Script: My name is [YOUR NAME]. I am calling/writing to ask Governor Northam to find it in his heart to pardon Jean Montrevil, who has a pending pardon application before your office. Jean is a beloved father of four, small business owner, and community leader who was targeted by the Trump Administration for speaking up for immigrant rights. Jean was deported three years ago this month to Haiti, where he suffers immensely. Governor Northam can help reunite Jean with his four U.S. citizen children by pardoning him for his decades-old convictions, for which he served his time. Please help us bring Jean home! Thank you for your time.
Join LaColectiVA, Sanctuary DMV, Free Them All VA, DC IWOC, Northern VA Democratic Socialists of America, and the NYU Immigrant Rights Clinic, and others for a night of political education and action to dismantle the deportation and detention machine. We’ll learn about the racist origins of the deportation machine and how it led to the deportation of Jean Montrevil, a Black immigrant rights activist who was abruptly deported to Haiti in 2018 for thirty-year-old Virginia drug convictions, and how we can fight back through the campaign to bring him home. We’ll also learn about how anti-Blackness led to the rise of immigration detention in the U.S. and what we can do today to shut down ICA-Farmville. Join us as we turn education into action and fight back against this racist system! RSVP HERE!
